We are so excited about this new stripper reality show, set to air this fall, about strippers at the Stadium Club in Washington D.C. Strippers show up on reality television often enough, but there still hasn’t been a strip club show, and this looks to deliver. According to the Washington Post, it will air on a network to be named. They’re speculating it will be VH1, which would be a crushing loss for Bravo.
I find these 2011 Miss USA Pageant videos fascinating. (The evolution in schools one is a real doozy.) I remember a 90’s webzine game called Lesbian or German Lady? and I would love to see a more current Miss USA Contestant or Porn Star? version of that. (I just gave you a great tumblr idea.) They look so similar, and yet, only Miss Pennslyvania mentioned compensation as a factor that would affect her decision. She’s so getting a letter From The Desk of Larry Flynt. Also, apparently Steven Levitt and Russ Douthat are not the only people living by the “Daughter Test.” Miss Minnesota has the most interesting variation on that.
In something that is really barely stripper news, Shakira’s video for “Rabiosa,” has her doing some poledancing, OMG. The first segment, where she’s sliding down the pole in a spin, got me excited because I thought she was really going to bring out some serious polework, but no. Mostly she just does her sexy Shakira thing; she’s not trying to be Felix Cane (if you don’t know who that is, click on that link now). The split she drops into at the end is quite impressive, though.

GP: I knew what I wanted “Paris (Ooh La La)” to be. I had a concept of what I wanted the video to look like. But we really wanted to see how dancers move and watch these girls dance to our songs. A lot of these clubs would be playing “Paris” in the club which is really crazy to see. We were in New Orleans and that was the first time we ever saw an exotic dancer dancing to our song which was a real inspiration actually. It may sound cheap, but it was a really fulfilling experience to see the string of dancers moving to our music. What we do there, it’s not a degrading experience, and we’re not throwing dollar bills or anything like that. We are the quiet weird band that lurks in the corner.

Maybe I have a soft spot for anything with the word “ho” in it*, but this came to my attention and I just had to tell you about it folks! Naomi is trying to create a film along the lines of “Every Ho I Know Says So“, which I was in and wrote about here, called “Project Ho Lovers” and is looking for voices and faces and people with stories. I am assuming that all of us working folks have a story to contribute, so why don’t you do it? I know y’all date, don’t play with me.
