According to its wiki, cognitive dissonance is the “discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values at the same time, performs an action that is contradictory to one or more beliefs, ideas, or values, or is confronted by new information that conflicts with existing beliefs, ideas, or values.” Mass hysteria is defined as “a phenomenon that transmits collective delusions of threats, whether real or imaginary, through a population in society as a result of rumors and fear.”
Calm your tits is a perfectly reasonable response to a breathless abolitionist who is experiencing either cognitive dissonance or mass hysteria. Last week, Amnesty International released a report that called for the full decriminalization of sex work and harshly condemned the Nordic Model of regulating sex work. The report, of course, is significant in that it validates what sex workers have been saying for decades (stop arresting us!) while also subverting the traditionally accepted “progressive” narrative that sex buyers are bad but sex sellers are victims.
So, how did the remaining norders (that’s the term I just made up for Nordic Model endorsers! Get it? NORD. ERS.) react when the news broke? Let’s just say, their tits were not calm. Here are some of the best examples:
.@amnesty You’re a fake agency run by #pimps who want to legalize #pimps right to sell our children as sex slaves & men’s right to buy them!
— Diana f/k/a (@desifoxx) May 26, 2016
Calm down, Diana. That’s not what’s happening at all. Of course, the all-powerful pimp lobby was invoked:

Was Dennis Hof really consulted for the Amnesty study? I had no idea.
Shame on you @amnesty @AmnestyOnline. Calling sexual exploitation work, you caved to pimp lobby. #NoAmnesty4Pimps pic.twitter.com/caZNJDt1DC

Slick illustration? Check. Purposeful misrepresentation of the subject matter? Check.
So @Colmogorman thinks the criminalisation of ‘the purchase of sex’ is a human rights violation. https://t.co/UMAd9EMgRo

Oh, thank goodness. I knew we were missing the Enlightened Male Progressive’s opinion. Just kidding. Calm your tits, Oliver.

Well, that’s not technically wrong. But it is technically a horrible thing to say.
How do you go from this to a complete reversal of your position on the sex trade? Sad day for human rights @amnesty pic.twitter.com/NfC8uRU9Sf

The nerve of the world’s largest human rights organization to literally reverse its policy based on, like, research or whatever.
.@thenation Serious factual error in your headline here. Looks like you’re going the way of the New York Times. https://t.co/FXGdt4xn9F

There’s an error in your ideology, Rachel.

I honestly haven’t heard George Soros’s name invoked since college! I knew, I just knew, this whole thing was a part 85-year-old George Soros’s dastardly plan for a utopian future.
[…] We’re Sorry Amnesty International Ruined Your Ideology — Tits and Sass […]
George Soros is supporting Clinton, who is with the anti-sex work abolitionists.
Only because the alternative is Trump, who isn’t any better. *sigh*
Some years all the major party candidates have the same position on an issue and it’s a bad position.
Gawd, and I hope that Amnesty doesn’t cave to this pressure. Sending them a thank you tweet now.
I notice that “Josephine” doesn’t have the balls to put a surname. I didn’t realise that one could screencap a string of tweets, string them together and call it a ‘piece of journalism’. It’s either lazy or stupid, or both. If that’s what passes as journalism these days, Tits and Sass should throw in the towel and call it a day.
Josephine states, “The report, of course, is significant in that it validates what sex workers have been saying for decades (stop arresting us!)”
If Josephine had bothered to do any research, she would know that sex workers are NOT arrested under the Nordic Model. In fact, they can sell sex anywhere they like: beside a school or at the front of a church. The Nordic Model addresses the imbalance of power in prostitution by criminalising the johns; not the women who sell sex.
France was the most recent county to adopt the Nordic Model. The government will provide money each year for housing assistance, education and training, and counselling for women wanting to exit. Not one woman has been killed in Sweden since the introduction of the Nordic Model. In Germany, which has decriminalisation, so many prostitutes are murdered by johns that some are not able to be identified. Brothels have menus where men can choose whether they want a gang bang, to torture a woman, anal sex without a condom. Pregnant women are in such high demand by johns with fetishes that women are impregnated, sold for gang bangs, and the babies are then aborted or adopted out.
The Netherlands thought that decriminalisation would end the stigma of prostitution. Another fail. The red light districts have been taken over by criminal gangs who traffic women from third world countries. These women are then held in debt bondage, often unable to leave the premises and forced to service up to 20 men a day.
Nevada as legalised prostitution. Another fail. The only people that decriminalisation and legalisation help are the brothel owners and pimps. Dennis Hof is a good example.

Hi Lisi,
I’m not sure why you said “not one woman has been killed in Sweden since the introduction of the Nordic Model”. That seems implausible at best. If you meant that not one sex worker has been killed in Sweden since the Nordic Model’s introduction then, sadly, that’s also incorrect.
Kindly, Josephine
Also sex workers most certainly are being arrested under end demand, I don’t know what kind of wilfully blind you need to be to assert otherwise.
Lisi just came here to bitch about sex work–if she really had a problem with screenshot and response articles the Internet would have given her an aneurysm by now, more’s the pity for us it hasn’t.
And criticising you for “not having a surname” is like that time the DA here said only trafficking victims cover their faces in ads. Because the world is just so kind to sex workers, right?! Can’t lose housing, children, or lives for sex work! Safety concerns are for the pimp lobby!
Hey, Lisi, where’s your surname?
