I’m kind of tired of young women who write on the internet being dismissed as hipster dilettantes. I do find Marie’s recent immersion in second wave feminist ideology somewhat disturbing, but from my experiences interacting with Marie, I feel like her research on those texts is done with a lot of awareness of their shortcomings. Her recent articles in ANIMAL NY as an intern have all been pretty sex workers’ rights positive:

I’m not sure if she’d be sympathetic to the perspective of this blog, since she recently seems to have bought into some pretty hardline radfem ideology:

She strikes me as a bit of a hipster dilettante, and the having very public sexual adventures followed by a very strong sex-negative phase would be in keeping with that.

Thanks, great piece. I have now blown 2/3 of a workday catching up on MC and TL fiction(?), and couldn’t be happier I did. What especially shines through in your discussion is your focus on what you like, rather than on whether what MC wrote is *good* or *bad* which, from anyone other than Dorothy Parker or George Orwell [/OR/ insert your fave here], gets tiresome fast. Anyway, much appreciated.

ha, oh man, i remember how embarrassed and vaguely guilty i felt the first time a client failed to come during a booking – because that’s how i thought sex worked, at that point: it keeps going till the man comes. i was so worried he was going to accuse me of ripping him off!
