Well, I went to YouTube and commented. A lot. Had to type in a captcha (or however you spell it) more than once. But it was worth it.

Actually, you should all go look at the comments. There are a lot of them supportive of Shelby. You’ve got the holier-than-thous too, of course, but if it were up to the commentors on YouTube, Shelby would be getting a medal.

Disgusting? No. Impractical? Yes. Publicity stunt? Totally.

Unless she’s a really, really cheap escort it doesn’t seem like the math works out. Bring a toy and get a free hour. What, toys are like, 20-40$, right? She could just donate a portion of a normal hour of work to said charity and still come out ahead there.

I’m trying to see where the uproar is? She’s providing a service for both the men and holiday joy for a good cause. Hmm… where in December 2011 and we still get comments like “Yeah, that’s pretty disgusting what she’s doing.” I thnk its awesome what Shelby’s doing… but it ain’t for everybody.

This is sooo F@#%ed up and this is where I really see titsandsass shine as an educational and consciousness-raising resource. These comments, jokes and really the treatment of the donating entertainers by the fire department are hate speech and discrimination respectively. It’s defamation and it’s so mundane and prevalent. I do think some sort of letter writing or e-mailing backlash should occur. The sex worker community is visibly very generous in these stories and contributing positively to society and that’s an opportunity to again be dehumanizing and hateful? It’s so pathetic.
