In reply to mumtaza. Her happiness/horniness was probably part of what charmed me the most. She just seems so gung ho and excited to be there that it's difficult to dislike her. I imagine that people felt/feel like that about her in real life too.

I remember reading this book when I was 10-12. I’m pretty sure there’s a chapter where she has sex with her friend’s dog in South Africa. Or maybe she just blows the dog. I don’t remember. It was a long time ago. And as much as I disagree with her dog blowing policy, I do admire anyone who’s willing to try anything once.

I bought this book when I was 10 or so at a garage sale for 25 cents! It blew my mind!! The movie’s great also. The Aurora part (in the book), where they get it on, not get busted, probably changed my young life. I later got to reenact it in college. Great article! Ya, that was my intro to the concept of sex work also. And she was just so irrerepressibly happy and horny. I loved it!
