“I have to assume that the glittery hanging curtains, ornate gilt decor, and licensed bar of 232, the Satisfaction home base, are probably not par for the course. They smell more of “movie set designed to make you impressed” rather than “actual working brothel.””

It is a swanky set, but the interior of Stiletto, a very expensive, custom-built Sydney brothel, has a very similar vibe to the parlour shown in Satisfaction. Parlours in Melbourne can’t serve alcohol – that’s the only non-realistic detail – but those in Sydney can, if they have an alcohol license. I had avoided this series for a while, because I thought it might fuck with my head, but having checked it out now on Netflix, it is great.

I loved this show! You can also rent it on Netflix, well worth watching. I’m sad it didn’t last longer. the storylines were so well-written and the characters were fascinating.

Thanks for the heads-up on what looks like a great series. As an Australian who now lives in another country, I must admit I do get ‘well actually some countries do okay on sex-work’ some times (I have been the receptionist briefly for an escort agency and worked behind the bar in various ‘gentlemen clubs’ so kind of a fellow traveller rather than having been on the front line) about my old home country. Australian TV can be really bad when it goes wrong, but then it does something like this.
